Join us for Christmas in Rockport and celebrate the whole season long!

Rockport is excited for the return of a few of our favorite festival traditions and continuing the month-long experiences for you and yours to enjoy a festive holiday season. 

Second Annual Cape Ann Winter Lights | November 26, 2021 through January 2, 2022
We invite you to celebrate the spirit of the season with us! Pack up the car and come enjoy our second Annual Winter Lights Celebration on Cape Ann. Local businesses throughout Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, and Manchester-by-the-Sea are getting into the festive spirit by decorating their establishments with twinkling lights and/or creative window displays. Over 100 lighted locations will help bring joy to all those who visit from November 26 through January 2, 2022. Visit discovergloucester.com for more information.

Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, and Cyber Monday | November 26, 27, and 29, 2022

Rockport’s Shopping Nights Return
Shops will be open until 8:00 PM complete with warm holidays treats at restaurants and cafes and magical sights and sounds of the holidays. Special deals and refreshments will be available at select retailers. Prizes will be awarded weekly.

  • December 3 – Be Festive Theme
  • December 10 – Fill the Lobster Boat for Senator Tarr’s Gift Drive supporting Wellspring, Pathways, and Action, Inc.
  • December 17 – Ugly Sweater Night

Saturday, December 4, 2021

  • Santa’s Arrival via Lobster Boat at 1:00 PM
    A favored tradition returns with Santa arriving on the F/V Mary B escorted by Rockport’s Harbormasters and the US Coast Guard to T-Wharf.
    The Rockport Scouts will escort Santa to Rockport Baptist Church to visit with the children.
    Special coloring pages and letter writing materials will be available. Meeting with Santa will be outside, so please dress appropriately.
  • Rockport Tree Lighting at 4:00 PM
    Town-wide festivities continue throughout the day capped with Christmas Carols and the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Dock Square at 4:00 PM. 

Saturday December 18, 2021

  • 76th Annual Christmas Pageant at 5:00 PM
    On Saturday evening at 5:00 PM, the nativity returns to its annual tradition, stepping-off from Dock Square with its processional up Main Street.  Visit the Rockport Art Association & Museum website during the month of December to learn more about the history of the Pageant and view images of the beautifully crafted costumes worn by Pageant participants through the years. 

All Throughout the Season:

  • Horse Drawn Carriage Rides and Carolers
  • Sammy the Seagull Hide & Seek: Kids will find Sammy, dressed in holiday garb, all over Town and use their special decoder sheet to fill in the Secret Message. Once they solve their Secret Message, they can take their cards to Brother’s Brew, Tuck’s Candy Factory, Tuck’s Candy and Gifts, The Fudgery, and Happy Whale for free holiday treats! 
  • North Pole Mailbox: Write and send your letters to Santa at the North Pole Mail Box (located at the Ice Cream Store on Bearskin Neck). See Santa & the Elves at their favorite Ice Cream Store, enjoying hot chocolate while checking his list. 
  • Workshops and other special events with local maker businesses happening throughout the season. Please visit the calendar of events page on RockportUSA.com for business events.
