A musical tribute to John Sparks, with the Ghostlight Chorus and David Deveau

A musical tribute to late board member John Sparks who passed away in May. Rockport Music is honoring John’s memory with a free community concert.

The Ghostlight Chorus is an exceptional 16-member chamber choir who performs a varied repertoire of sacred and secular a cappella compositions from the 16th to the 21st centuries. Their performances range from cathedrals to concert halls to the PS1 Benefit at MoMA New York to a live performance with the Rolling Stones. The Press Herald hailed that ‘it is simply one of the best vocal ensembles I have heard in a long time.’

Rockport Music Artistic Director David Deveau is an avid chamber musician internationally acclaimed for his expressive and poetic interpretations. Having performed with members of the Juilliard, Borromeo, Kronos, Orion, and St. Lawrence string quartets, as well as many others, he has also performed numerous premieres of composers such as John Harbison and Scott Wheeler. The Boston Globe hailed him ‘a splendid pianist.’

A reception will be held on the third floor following the concert.

Free, no tickets required.
