An Evening with John Stobart

‘An Evening With John Stobart’ Lecture

John Stobart, one of the most successful marine painters of our time, will lecture at the North Shore Arts Association 11 Pirates Lane, East Gloucester, MA on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 7pm.

A marine painter of harbor scenes and ship portraits for more than 50 years, John has devoted his career to showing the majestic beauty of sailing ships from a previous era. John studied art in England at the Derby Collage of Art and at the Royal Academy School in London during the 1950’s. Then, a voyage on a passenger-cargo ship to South Africa, sparked his interest in marine paintings.

In addition to his lecture, John will critique a few paintings from the audience (bring one along, if you’d like).

You can view some of John Stobart’s original paintings at the Hawthorn Hotel in Salem, Massachusetts.
