Cape Ann Symphony kicks off the 56th concert season with special guest Owen Young of the Boston Symphony Orchestra joining Cape Ann for the Saint Saens’ Cello Concerto on Saturday, September 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m. Owen Young has been a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since August 1991. The September concert marks his first appearance with the Cape Ann Symphony. The Cape Ann Symphony season opening concert also includes Weber’s Overture to Oberon and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

November 24, 2007: 8:00 P.M. November 25, 2007: 2:00 P.M.

The Cape Ann Symphony’s annual Holiday Pops is set for Saturday, November 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 25 at 2 p.m. Cape Ann Symphony welcomes back Gospel vocalist Renese King to the Holiday Pops. This festive evening of music for all ages features vocal Holiday selections with Ms. King as well as the Symphony performing many holiday favorites such as Anderson’s Christmas Festival, Delius’ Sleigh Ride, Hayman’s Carol of the Bells, Smith’s Jingle Bells Forever, Holcomb’s Festive Sounds of Hanukkah and the Symphony’s traditional holiday singalong.

January 26, 2008 2:00 P.M.

This Family Concert on Saturday, January 26 at 2 p.m. features Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Actress and Gloucester native Heidi Dallin narrates Prokofiev’s beloved story of a brave and clever boy called Peter and his pursuit of the wolf. This classic tale for narrator and orchestra is a perfect concert for the whole family to enjoy and a great way to introduce young people to the Cape Ann Symphony. The special ticket prices for the Family Concert only are Adult tickets – $15 and Youth Tickets -$5.

March 22, 2007: 8:00 P.M. March 23, 2008: 2:00 P.M.

Piano soloist Janice Weber joins the Cape Ann Symphony on Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 23 at 2 p.m. to headline the French Fantasy Concert. Ms. Weber will play Saint Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2. The French Fantasy Concert program also features Berlioz’s Roman Carnival and Debussy’s La Mer.

May 17, 2008: 8:00 P.M. May 18, 2008: 2:00 P.M.

The Cape Ann Symphony celebrates spring with the Spring Pops Concert on Saturday, May 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. The lively concert features Von Suppe’s Morning, Noon and Night, Gould’s American Salute, the Anderson favorites Waltzing Cat and Chicken Reel, Brody’s Nigun Rhapsody, Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, Williams’ Liberty Fanfare, Bock’s Broadway classic Fiddler on the Roof. and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
