‘Circle of Friends: Collectors Clubs of the 1930s’

Join us for a wonderful evening as Historic New England’s Joanne Flaherty speaks about Bertram & Nina Little, and the Collectors Clubs of the 1930s. During the 1930s, many collectors lacked funds to buy expensive antiques, so they focused their attention on more affordable items like ceramics or lighting devices. These groups began to meet regularly to exchange knowledge and study unusual pieces from each others’ personal collections. Collecting Clubs became so popular that by the late 1930s both the New York Sun and the Boston Evening Transcript devoted weekly columns to their activities.

Admission is free. The Waterline Education Center is handicap-accessible.
