Founded in 1982 by a group of enthusiastic music colleagues, BCMS has built a reputation for impassioned performances, ripened over time by the long personal and professional histories of its member musicians.
The ensemble playing demonstrates the perfect combination of control and freedom that comes from years of collegial collaboration. Its current members include violinists Ida Levin and Harumi Rhodes, violists Marcus Thompson and Roger Tapping, cellist Ronald Thomas, pianists Mihae Lee and Randall Hodgkinson, flutist Fenwick Smith and clarinetist Thomas Hill. BCMS invites guest artists, chosen for their particular affinity for the works they will play, to join the members in performance, expanding the artistic possibilities to virtually all works in the chamber music repertoire.
