Yes, THE Jay Geils, playing the music that was his first love, jazz and blues, an affair he has avidly pursued, garnering the highest acclaim from audiences and critics, ever since his Rock N Roll days.
Joining Jay is famed harp master Jerry Portnoy, with a career including six years as a member of the fabled Muddy Waters Blues Band, and another four as a featured member of the Eric Clapton Band. He has a touring schedule that has carried him to every state in the union and twenty-eight foreign countries on six continents, with performances at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Smithsonian, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and at major jazz festivals worldwide, including the Newport Jazz Festival, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Warsaw International Jazz Jamboree, the Hawaii Pacific Jazz and Music Fair, and the Grande Parade du Jazz in Nice, France.
The band is a who’s who of the regional Jazz and Blues scene–award-winning jazz guitarist and Berklee Alum Gerry Beaudoin; Boston vocalist and newest soul sensation, Cassandre McKinley (The Boston Globe: “There’s a music style called jazzsoul (we made it up) and our anointed queen is Boston Native Cassandre McKinley.”), Grammy-winning pianist & saxophonist Fred Lipsius of Blood, Sweat, & Tears (he is a long time Professor at Berklee and the only staff member to have won a Grammy); and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Doug ‘Professor” Bell from Bellevue Cadillac. The band is rounded out by Gerard Beaudoin on vibes, Mark Teciera on drums, and Jesse Williams on bass.
