You are cordially invited to attend a fun evening of traditional jazz music featuring the Sarah Morrow Quartet at the acoustically rich Rockport Art Association. The evening will be hosted by Boston’s leading jazz radio personality, Eric Jackson of Jazz With Eric in The Evening, from WGBH Boston. Concert start time: 8:00 PM.
Trombonist Sarah Morrow, an American living in Paris (lead member of the American Allstars in Paris), will visit Rockport for an evening concert coming from her appearance at the Mary Lou Williams, Woman in Jazz Festival, at the Washington DC Kennedy Center. She will be joined by band members Bobby Floyd – piano, Peter Giron – bass, and Steve Williams – drummer of late jazz vocalist Shirley Horn.
Sarah Morrow holds the distinction of having been the first woman instrumentalist to tour with the Ray Charles Orchestra. She has also worked with artist such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, David Murray and French vocalist Anne Ducros as well as appearing at Jazz in Marciac, the Nice Jazz Festival, Paris JVC Jazz Festival, and the Strasbourgh Music Festival. Last October, Sarah received the 2005 Guinness Cork Jazz Festival Rising Star Award.
