Jazz on the Rocks, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 2, has been moved to Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. The event will benefit Rockport Music, supporting its artistic programming, as well as its education and outreach activities on Cape Ann and beyond.
With a career that spans over six decades, pianist and composer Dave Brubeck continues to be one of the most popular and critically acclaimed musicians in the realm of jazz. His musical experiments remain hallmarks of innovation and creativity.
Jazz on the Rocks will also feature a pre-concert wine and hors d’oeuvres soiree in the Reception Hall, with its stunning views of Sandy Bay and the Town of Rockport, as well as a mini live auction of exclusive items. JAZZ ON THE ROCKS RAFFLE
Jazz on the Rocks also gives you the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win ‘Trane,’ a sculpture by internationally acclaimed sculptor and Rockport resident John Raimondi. Part of his Jazz Series, this 40′ bronze sculpture is a tribute to renowned sax player John Coltrane, a romantic abstraction and evocation of the artist’s essence.
Raffle tickets are $100 each. Only 300 raffle tickets will be sold. Tickets are available through December 15, 2010 at the Rockport Music Box Office (35 Main Street, Rockport, MA 01966) during regular business hours (10am ‘ 4pm, Monday through Friday) and at events in the Shalin Liu Performance Center, including Jazz on the Rocks.
Mr. Raimondi’s work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC; and the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, Maine, among many others. To date, Mr. Raimondi has completed more than 100 monumental sculptures for public, corporate and private collections worldwide, such as Stockley Park, Heathrow Airport, London; Omaha International Airport, Nebraska; and the Sculpture Garden in Vienna, where his work represents the United States.
