Pastimes Entertainment presents the ultimate adventure with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table

The 2006 King Arthur Festival to be most epic ever!

Pastimes Entertainment is pleased to announce the sixth annual King Arthur Festival! This year’s show is scheduled for July 15, 16, 22, and 23 from 10 AM to 5 PM each day. Once again, Gloucester’s famed Hammond Castle Museum will host this unique family-friendly theatrical experience.

This highly successful interactive festival has been a favorite of both our audience and cast since its inception six years ago. The event is a combination of story-driven scenes (known as a ‘scenario’) and audience-driven interactive scenes and environmental street work, as well as top-notch variety performers and a medieval-style marketplace.

In past years, Pastimes has delved into the rich and varied legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, adapting classic tales such as The Sword in the Stone, Gawaine and the Green Knight, The Search for the Holy Grail, The Coming of Mordred, and most uniquely, our own version of Mark Twain’s classic A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.

This year we present the most requested and most famous of Arthurian legends: Lancelot, Guinevere, and the Fall of Camelot. To encompass the sheer scope of this story, which includes the trial of Queen Guinevere as well as the famous battle of Solsbury Hill between Arthur and Mordred, we have decided on a unique approach.

Each day will feature a self-contained adventure, which means patrons that attend only one day will still enjoy a full day of interactive entertainment, but connecting story threads will link the Saturday and Sunday shows to create a single epic tale.

For our audience, we will offer weekend passes redeemable either on the consecutive Sunday of the first weekend or on the Sunday of the following week. We feel our loyal audience and newcomers to the Pastimes experience will find this a wonderful way to immerse them in this classic tale. This will also be an unprecedented challenge to our cast ensemble, and a unique opportunity to bring to life one of the most famous tales in the English language.

As always, the festival will also offer plenty of family-friendly interactive fun with the cast, unique merchants, New England’s finest variety acts, food and refreshments, and of course, the historic splendor of Hammond Castle itself.

One-day admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students (with ID) and seniors, and $8 for children. A discounted weekend pass will also be available for patrons who wish to attend both days of the show. Parking for a fee is available through the City of Gloucester at Stage Fort Park, and Pastimes will provide a free shuttle bus to the site.
