Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers is one of the leading swinging jazz and blues groups in the world. Infused with retro glamour and the musical elegance of jazz’s bygone years, the critically-acclaimed ensemble has carved out a niche in the jazz world for their musical prowess and impeccable style. The Boston Globe has said that they ‘sound as tight as the legendary musicians they choose to emulate.’ In addition to Lavay Smith herself, a sultry vocalist who recalls both Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington in equal measure, the group comprises seven musicians: four horns (trumpet, trombone, alto and tenor saxophones), drums, piano, and bass. The group has recorded several records and tours all over the globe.
