Cape Ann Museum and Rockport Music present a family concert
The Cape Ann Museum, in collaboration with Rockport Music, presents Made in the Shade with guest artist Henri Smith, a one-hour concert featuring New Orleans Jazz, swing, and oldies on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Museum’s Folly Cove Auditorium. This program is free and open to the public.
Made in the Shade is a one of a kind acoustic group that has entertained audiences worldwide with the exuberant spirit of New Orleans street music. The members include Dan Fox (trombone); Mike Peipman (trumpet); Crick Diefendorf (banjo); Paul Dosier (tuba); and John McLellan (drums). Guest artist Henri Smith is a New Orleans jazz singer who relocated to Gloucester after Hurricane Katrina.
During the one hour concert the audience will experience the exuberant spirit of New Orleans street music, with favorites When the Saints Go Marching In, Blueberry Hill, and What a Wonderful World. A reception with the artists follows the concert.
Made in the Shade will be in residence on Cape Ann on March 24 and 25 as part of the Educational Outreach Program of Rockport Music, the presenter of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival.
The Cape Ann Museum is located at 27 Pleasant Street in Gloucester. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed during the month of February, on Mondays, and on major holidays. Admission is $8.00 adults, $6.00 Cape Ann residents, seniors and students. Children under 12 and Museum members are free. The Museum is offering free admission on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. through the end of May, 2009. The Museum is wheelchair accessible. For more information please call: (978) 283-0455.
