JIM BERRY

Field Ornithologist

Essex County Ornithological Club

Join Jim Berry for a fascinating lecture on nesting water birds along the shores of the Essex County islands.

Jim Berry’s favorite activity is the study of birds, other wildlife, and plant communities in the context of their ecological relationships. He has been active in the Nest Record Program of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology for thirty years, has participated on breeding-bird-atlas projects in seven states, and has led field trips for various groups most of his adult life. Jim is a member of the American Birding Association and has published articles for Birding Magazine, as well as Bird Observer. He has recently written a series of articles on significant nesting records of Essex County for an annotated checklist of the birds, which was used to update Charles W. Townsend’s Birds of Essex County, originally published in 1905.
