New England Open Exhibition at the Rockport Art Association
The Rockport Art Association is celebrating its 90th Anniversary by sponsoring a series of out-reach events. One of the most important of these is the first ever RAA New England Juried Invitational Exhibition, open to all artists residing in New England who work in painting, graphics, sculpture and photography. The exhibition will be on view at the RAA’s 12 Main Street galleries from October 8 – November 13, with an opening reception on Sunday, October 9th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, sponsored by a generous gift from the DeMoulas Foundation. The exhibition and reception are open free to the public.
By making the exhibition open to all New England artists, the RAA expands the range and diversity of future shows. More importantly, it is hoped that the event will raise public awareness of the RAA and add to the already prestigious reputation of the organization.
There will be $5000 in prizes awarded, including a $2000 Best of Show sponsored by Granite Savings Bank, will be awarded. Other prizes include a $1000 prize in photography sponsored by Cell Signaling Technology, Inc.; a $1000 prize in painting sponsored by Rockport Galleries: RAA, Square Circle, George Anderson Gallery, An Artful Touch Gallery, Mosher Gallery, Nicholas Gallery, John Raimondi Gallery, and the Paul Strisik Gallery; and a $1000 prize in sculpture co-sponsored by Gorton’s Seafoods of Gloucester and Varian Semiconductor Equipment.
