The Society for the Encouragement of the Arts (seARTS) awarded grants to six local artists from varying artistic genres to create projects based on Cape Ann’s literary history in partnership with local businesses. Join us for this series of events to learn, experience, and celebrate these unique artistic installations and interpretations.
Wednesday October 8th: Pleasant Street Tea Company 7PM Mark Tiewes will run a community photo workshop on night photography and environmental portraits. Free and open to the public.
Thursday October 9th: Partner with an Artist Forum @ the green house 54 Commercial St. 7PMModerated by Peter Anastas with participation for all PWA artist partici’pants. Free and open to the public.
Saturday October 11th: Take the PWA Installation Walk to each business location to see and experience the artwork.
10-AM _ 54 Commercial Street _ community art at the ‘green house’ _ Artist: Emily Sinagra partnering with InterShell and the YMCA as an official community partner invites all ages to collaborate with her on her project throughout the day. It will be an interactive, public art installation.
10-11:30AM _ Captain Joe’s, E. Gloucester _ Artist: Mark Tiewes will pres’ent ‘Faces of the Working Waterfront,’ a series of portraits inspired by Vincent Ferrini’s poem, At the Brink.

11:30 _ Virgilio’s on Main St.-Artist-Willie Alexander talk 11:30-3PM plays a recorded singing of Vincent Ferrini’s poems over minimal musical ac’companiment on a loudspeaker system on Main Street.
6:30- Dogtown Bookstore- Artist Ian McColl present the ‘Telling of the North Star’ in an interpretation of Vincent Ferrini’s epic description of an ancient Gloucester Ghost Ship’s return to salvage one of its own.
7:15: Green House Celebration – 54 Commercial Street – All (replaying music produced by Willie Alexander)
