Sunday Book Chat

Sunday Book Chat

‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows will be the topic of the Rockport Public Library Sunday Book chat on Oct. 19 at 2:00 p.m. The society came to be as a sudden alibi when its members were found breaking curfew by the Germans occupying Guernsey in World War II. A London writer corresponds with the group learning of their lives, their island, their taste in books, and the impact of the occupation. Captivated, she sails to meet the people with whom she has connected.

The Book Chat is an informal discussion of titles of interest to a general audience. New members are always welcome and the library is handicapped accessible. Copies of the book are available at the library and Toad Hall Bookstore.
