Jewish community sponsors supper, services
Gloucester _ Temple Ahavat Achim welcomes members, prospective members and visitors to a dinner and Sabbath service on Friday, February 8, 2008, at 6:15 pm. at Cruiseport Gloucester, 6 Rowe Square.
The synagogue’s building at 86 Middle Street was destroyed by fire on December 15, 2007, but the temple community continues to offer its full slate of services and programs, in part because of extraordinary support from the Cape Ann religious and business communities. The Cruiseport is donating its function hall for this event.
A homemade dinner will be served, followed by a musical service appropriate for all ages, featuring Guest Cantor Avima Rudavsky Darnov.
There is no charge for this event but please make a reservation by calling 978-283-4340 or through www.taagloucester.org.
On Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 5:30 pm. the community is invited to a ‘Havdallah Service’ when we say farewell to the Sabbath and usher in a new week at the home of Rabbi Samuel Barth, 15 Niles Pond Road, Gloucester. The simple and beautiful service is especially appropriate for the young and ‘young at heart’ and will be followed by refreshments. For more information about this event, please call 978-281-0739.
