~ A Timeless Love Story ~
The Love Letters of John & Abigail Adams
Friday, February 8, at 8:00 PM
(Snow date: Tuesday, Feb. 12th)
The Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum invites you to an early celebration of Valentine’s Day with a dramatic presentation of ‘The Love Letters of John and Abigail Adams,’ followed by a reception featuring a sumptuous chocolate buffet. Wearing historically accurate clothing and using period props, re-enactors Patricia Bridgman and Thomas Macy will bring to life Mr. & Mrs. Adams, reading their correspondence and interacting with the audience in this remarkable living-history performance. The event will take place at The First Congregational Church of Essex, 39 Main Street, Essex, MA.
According to Claire Lane of the Essex Historical Society, ‘What better place to hear the letters than in an 18th century building with a Paul Revere bell in the belfry? And chocolate was very popular in colonial America,’ says Lane, ‘so a chocolate buffet is right in keeping with the evening’s historical theme.’
Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, please visit www.essexshipbuildingmuseum.org or call 978-768-7541. The First Congregational Church of Essex is handicapped accessible.
