Walking Tour of Artist’s Neighborhood

Museum presents walking tour of painter Emma Fordyce MacRae’s Gloucester neighborhood

The Cape Ann Museum will present a walking tour in conjunction with the current exhibition, The Paintings of Emma Fordyce MacRae (1887 _ 1974) on Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Join Gloucester history teacher Courtney Richardson on a walk through MacRae’s Gloucester neighborhood.

Learn about the history of the harbor’s western shore and one of Gloucester’s undiscovered preserved spaces. The tour will begin at Stage Fort Park and take participants by the beaches. It will then continue through Atlantic Highlands and along Old Salem Road into Ravenswood Park and the trails that stray off the old carriage roads.

The Cape Ann Museum is located at 27 Pleasant Street in Gloucester. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed during the month of February, on Mondays, and on major holidays. Admission is $8.00 adults, $6.00 Cape Ann residents, students and seniors. Children under 12 and Museum members are free. The Museum is wheelchair accessible.
