17th Century Saturday: Witchcraft in Chebacco

Join David Whittredge, of the Essex Historical Society, for a fascinating talk about the 1692 Witchcraft Hysteria and its impact on Chebacco Parish. Like many neighboring villages, Chebacco did not escape being touched by the hysteria. From a local woman accused of witchcraft to a minister’s petition to save another of the accused, Mr. Whittredge will present Chebacco’s role in this well-known era of 17th century history. Admission to this program will also include a tour of the Museum, highlighting 17th century aspects of the site.

Saturday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. $5 members/$7 non-members. Held at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum’s Waterline Center, located at the rear of 66 Main Street, Essex, MA. Handicap-accessible.
