‘Youth Sings for Joy’ – a concert featuring selections from Purcell, Vivaldi, Schubert, Britten and Handel, with folk songs and a Disney medley
The Honors Youth Choir of Chorus North Shore is an outstanding group of talented local musicians. They come together to learn the discipline and joy of shared music. The program is fully funded, allowing students aged ten through high school the opportunity to learn and perform choral masterworks and present extraordinary concerts.
The singers are selected by audition and must attend scheduled rehearsals and concerts. Chorus North Shore Artistic Director Sonja Dahlgren Pryor, executive director Mary Sepich, and accompanist Frank Corbin, all bring their experience as lifelong educators and musicians to the planning and development of this special group.
The children come from many communities all over the North Shore, including Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Nahant, North Andover, Newburyport, Beverly, Rockport, Rowley and Salisbury. They represent the diversity of the area with children from public and private schools and several who are home schooled. They regularly sing with the Chorus North Shore, matching the discipline of the 140 voice adult chorus.
General Admission: $18.00. Children 12 and under are free*
*The ‘children 12 and under’ policy is very loosely policed. We encourage children to come from the families of the singers.
