Our Empty Bowl Dinner will be held Thursday, May 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Elks on Bass Rocks in Gloucester. Park at Good Harbor Beach and enjoy a complimentary trolley car ride along the backshore to the event site.
The meal is simple’soup, bread and a cookie. Guests get to choose and keep a soup bowl handcrafted for this annual event. The bowl goes home with an unspoken reminder that somewhere someone’s bowl may be empty.
Music and prizes provided by North Shore 104.9.
A Silent Auction boasts unique bowls created by local artistic talent. Face painting and a live pottery wheel demonstration promise to entertain the whole family.
Empty Bowl events are held nationally to generate awareness concerning hunger and to raise money for local hunger-relief programs.
Proceeds from this event benefit the organization’s food pantry and summer programs.
