On Friday March 23, Vocalist Stephen Smith and Keyboard player Joe Reid will present an intimate evening of the Lyrics of Johnny Mercer, an Icon of The “Great American Song Book.” “Moon River* “Satin Doll * “Skylark” “Accentuate The Positive*” too Marvelous For Words” “Hooray for Hollywood” “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby” “Jeepers, Creepers” “Day In-Day Out” “Blues In The Night” “That Old Black Magic” “Tangerine” “Dream” “Laura,” “Come Rain Or Come Shine” From 1930 through 1976 Johnny Mercer wrote the Lyrics to over 1,000 songs. He was also a successful vocalist and producer. Nominated for 19 academy awards, he won 4.times. In 1942 he also co-founded Capitol Records. We are pleased to once again feature the combined talents of Stephen and Joe who appeared this past season with a well received all-Gershwin Concert – their show was one of the highlights of our 2006 season!.
