Cape Ann Blossoms
During the weekend of May 19 through 21, the Cape Ann Historical Museum will feature the artistry of twenty-one professional floral designers and garden club arrangers. From Fitz Henry (Hugh) Lane’s celebrated Gloucester Harbor to an early ballast wagon, selected works from the Museum’s rich collection will be interpreted in flowers. Cape Ann Blossoms can be previewed at a party on Friday evening May 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m., nationally recognized designer Pauline Runkle will create a floral arrangement inspired by Charles Hopkinson’s Three Dancing Girls while Gloucester painter Ed Touchette captures the work in watercolor. Touchette’s completed painting and a one and a half hour consultation with Pauline Runkle will be raffled off at the conclusion of the lecture. Tickets to the preview party are $75 per person and tickets to Saturday’s event are $25. Raffle tickets will be sold on Friday evening and on Saturday before the lecture for $5. All tickets can be purchased by calling the Museum at (978) 283-0455. Cape Ann Blossoms will continue through Sunday, May 21.
