Cape Ann Museum and Gloucester Lyceum & Sawyer Free Library present Celebrating Gloucester Neighborhoods: Portuguese Hill
In collaboration with the Gloucester Lyceum & Sawyer Free Library, the Cape Ann Museum is pleased to present a two day program celebrating the historic Portuguese neighborhood of Gloucester. On Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 p.m. the program will begin with a preview of a special exhibit in the Museum’s Maritime Gallery, with refreshments provided by the Azorean Restaurant. A panel discussion of the cultural, religious, and economic traditions of Gloucester’s Portuguese community will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Museum’s Folly Cove Auditorium, moderated by Bob Quinn. Later that day the Azorean Restaurant will host A Taste of Portugal on Saturday from 3:30 ‘ 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday May 2, a walking tour of Gloucester’s historic Portuguese neighborhood including a visit to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church will be offered. Participants are to meet in the parking lot of the church. Space is limited. Reservations are required. These programs are free and open to the public except for a fee of $10.00 per person for A Taste of Portugal, beverage and gratuity not included. For reservations please call 978-283-0455, x11.

The Cape Ann Museum is located at 27 Pleasant Street in Gloucester. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed during the month of February, on Mondays, and on major holidays. Admission is $8.00 adults, $6.00 Cape Ann residents, seniors and students. Children under 12 and Museum members are free. The Museum is offering free admission on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. through June 20 for Surrounded by Water: Clara Wainwright, Quilt Maker special exhibition.
