Come to the Cape Ann Farmers’ Market!

Farmers’ Market in Gloucester
Harbor Loop
Thursday August 24 and 31, 2006
4:30-7:30pm

COME to the CAPE ANN FARMERS’ MARKET!

The first two were a huge success; only two more to go this summer!

When the mercury rises and your stomach is rumbling, is there anything
better than a cool, summer salad?

If the thought of fresh crisp cucumbers, sweet melons and juicy tomatoes
makes your mouth water, you are in luck, because on THURSDAYS,
August 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st, from 4:30- 7:30pm on HARBOR LOOP
(by the Building Center), Cape Ann residents will be able to shop for
local produce at the CAPE ANN FARMERS’ MARKET.

This year’s market is a pilot program to determine if there is enough
interest on Cape Ann to have a regular summer market. If the idea of
being able to buy fresh, local food that is good for the body and soul is
appealing to you, mark your calendar and attend this year’s market.
The more who attend this month’s pilot program, the greater the chance
that the market will become a regular summer-long event.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, jams, jellies, fresh ground almond and
peanut butter, baked goods, organic cookies, and honey and food-related
crafts (all produced within 100 miles of Cape Ann) will be sold. Local
non-profit groups dedicated to sustaining Cape Ann will share information at
the market.

The taste of local produce picked within hours of its arrival at the
market is beyond comparison to typical store produce, which travels
an average of 1,500 miles over several days from farm to table.
Buying local produce supports the environment and the local economy.
At farmers’ markets, consumers can talk with the actual growers.
An added bonus for many: the market provides a gathering place to see
friends and family.

The Cape Ann Farmers’ Market was organized by MANY
dedicated, hard-working volunteers and is sponsored by:
The Cape Ann Food Cooperative
Essex County Buy Local Program
Sustainable Cape Ann
Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
The Food Project North Shore
Northeast Health Systems and
The City of Gloucester, which provided space for the event.

WIC Farmers Market coupons will be accepted and the Food Project has taken
on the responsibility for processing EDP coupons.

That’s the CAPE ANN FARMERS’ MARKET, Thursday evenings in
August from 4:30-7:30pm on Harbor Loop, rain or shine. Come early
for the best selection; stay late for the concert series on Harbor Loop.

See you there!
