EMERSON INN BY THE SEA RECEIVES WINE SPECTATOR AWARD
Grand Cafe wine list lauded for quality producers, selection and price
Rockport, MA ‘ Just over two short years ago, liquor was banned from restaurants and inns in Rockport, MA. After 70 tee totaling years, Emerson Inn by the Sea was the first to receive a liquor license in Rockport. Since that time, Emerson Inn by the Sea has built an award winning wine list, and just last week received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
The Wine Spectator Awards program acknowledges restaurants for wine lists offering interesting selections which appeal to a wide range of wine drinkers. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recognizes just fewer than 3,000 restaurants each year for wine lists highlighting an interesting selection of quality producers, and a strong thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
‘We’re delighted that exactly two years to the day after Emerson Inn by the Sea was the first to serve a drink in Rockport after the 70-year ban, we received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence,’ said Bruce Coates, owner of Emerson Inn by the Sea. ‘From the first week of our liquor license to today, we’ve worked hard to build a wine list for the Grand Cafe restaurant worthy of this award. We continue to focus on matching the wine list with a menu and service befitting of this award,’ finished Coates.
Emerson Inn by the Sea’s award-winning wine list offers more than 100 selections of wines by the bottle from the United States, France, Italy, Argentina, Chile, Australia, South Africa and more. There are twenty options for those who prefer to order by the glass and eleven offerings of half bottles. Prices range from $6-22 for wines and ports by the glass and from $22-245 by the bottle.
