Cruiseport Gloucester Hosts Benefit for The Open Door/Cape Ann Food Pantry

The Open Door/Cape Ann Food Pantry’s annual Empty Bowl Dinner will be held on Thursday, May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at a new location–Cruiseport Gloucester. The meal is simple’soup, bread and a cookie. Guests get to choose and keep a soup bowl handcrafted for this annual event. The bowl goes home with an unspoken reminder that somewhere someone’s bowl may be empty.

Music and prizes provided by North Shore 104.9. A Silent Auction boasts unique bowls created by local artistic talent. Face painting and a live pottery wheel demonstration promise to entertain the whole family. A complimentary trolley car ride from Good Harbor Beach to the event site is available.

Empty Bowl events are held nationally to generate awareness concerning hunger and to raise money for local hunger-relief programs. Proceeds from this event benefit the organization’s food pantry and summer programs. Tickets are available at the door: $12
