North Shore Arts Association Announces
Fresh Paint Auction
On Saturday, August 5th, the North Shore Arts Association will hold its second Annual Auction, renamed the Fresh Paint Auction. Originally these auctions were known as Wet Paint because the participating artists painted the pictures offered on the day of the auction. Over the years this has changed, but all the paintings offered are new work by some of the area’s finest artists. Close to 100 paintings will be available for auction. A preview party featuring appetizers and wine begins at 5:30pm. Catering will be provided by Classic Cooks of Gloucester. Admission at the door is $10. Come early to get your bidding paddle, preview the work (sneak preview and pre-registration from 10am-5pm), and enjoy the buffet. The auction, with John McInnis as auctioneer, begins at 7:00pm. McInnis is well known in the area by his business, McInnis Auctioneers, in Amesbury.
Buying art at auction is an excellent opportunity to begin a new, or add to a growing, collection. Investors today know that art is not only a delight to own but can increase in value while supporting the work of emerging and established artists. The Cape Ann area is well regarded for the exceptional painting done here. Past auctions have featured paintings by artists such as Charles Movalli, Donald Allen Mosher, Christine Mosher, Dale Ratcliff, Robert Grupp’, Betty Lou Schlemm, and Jeff Weaver. The NSAA art auctions are fun, fast-moving and often have the added benefit of spectacular sunsets over Gloucester Harbor, viewable from the upstairs balcony.
