This year Gloucester’s Tree Lighting Ceremony features old favorites and new performers highlighting Gloucester’s diverse musical talent’a warm, friendly, family gathering to kick off holiday celebrations. Henri Smith and the Seaport Horns join the Fireman’s Band, Brownie and Girl Scout troupes and soloist Christina Grecci in music and song.

Tree Lighting Ceremonies will commence at dusk after the Christmas Parade winds up at Kent Circle (around 4:30 pm).

Local Brownie and Girl Scout troops, along with The Fireman’s Band, will perform as the crowd gathers around the giant tree.

Soloist Christina Grecci will lead the audience in singing Christmas carols.

Henri Smith featuring the Seaport Horns (Nat Simpkins, Daniel Heath, Jr., Barry Ries and Ben Verdi) play traditional holiday music and a few surprises. There is nothing like a brass band to help us get into the holiday spirit.

Children can sit and talk with Santa in his sleigh.

Free Hot Chocolate and Fresh Popped Popcorn will be provided by the Strong and Grammas families.

A table will be set up where people can fill out Holiday Cards, donated by Joe Ciolino of the Weathervane, to be sent to U. S. Troops overseas. Everyone is encouraged to wish our brave men and women a warm and happy holiday season.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
