The fifth annual Trails & Sails: A Weekend of Walks and Water is nearly here!
Join us to celebrate the remarkable heritage resources found throughout Essex County on September 23 & 24, 2006 when 85 sites, organizations and communities throughout the Area will open the doors to more than 150 unique and special programs free of charge!
You will be able to enter a lighthouse in Salem, pick mushrooms in Hamilton and kayak on the Parker and Essex Rivers. Come out and join naturalists, developers and artists for events that will inform you about conservation efforts, creative reuse of historic properties, and the creative pulse that beats throughout the region. Guides will take you down the halls of antique homes and along leafy corridors of the region’s conservation lands.
There will be something for everyone in 2006 ‘ 60% of the events this year are new (which means many ‘standards’ and favorites will be back for you to try or try again!), and the weekend will feature two new types of events: Art Escapes and Doors Open.
Take in an Art Escape and experience the places that have inspired art in Essex County. Go behind doors that are ordinarily closed to the public in one of the fascinating Doors Open events. These new categories compliment the trails and sails ‘ all providing opportunities to discover and explore the heritage resources that contribute so much to the richness of our region.
