Heritage Center to Offer After School Program

The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center is offering a twelve week after school program for 4th and 5th graders beginning Wednesday, October 26. “History in the Making” will provide students with an opportunity to explore Gloucester’s rich history through hands on art projects. The program will meet at the Heritage Center on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m – 5:30 p.m. Students will also visit and participate in projects at The Schooner Adventure, Whale Center of New England, Cape Ann Historical Museum, and the North Shore Arts Association.

Art activities will include Sea Chantey sings, sketching exercises, algae pressing, construction of whales tails, creation of a diorama of a Quarry and painting in an artist’s studio. The program will culminate with an exhibition of student projects at the Maritime Heritage Center. The cost of the program is $75 per student and space is limited.
