Almost 200 votes were cast at this week’s New Fish Festival on Wednesday, June 22, as diners selected their favorite of the ten entrees prepared by local chefs. Lobsta Land, located on Causeway Street in Gloucester, garnered almost 30% of the votes, winning first place with its Salmon and Crab Napoleon with Lemon Tarragon Aioli. The second and third choices were The Grand Cafe at the Emerson Inn by the Sea, located on Cathedral Avenue in Rockport, with its Panko Crusted Flounder with Shitake Ponzu Glaze and Riverside ESX, on Main Street in Essex, with Pan Roasted Rainbow Trout with Basil, Leek Chardonnay Sauce with Fresh Crabmeat. Fifteen restaurants/chefs participated in this year’s Festival, utilizing over 1,000 pounds of seafood donated by local processors and fishermen. The New Fish Festival is sponsored by the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce.
