New Revelations on the Life and Works of Fitz Henry Lane

SeARTS presents a lecture given by Jim Craig, entitled “New Revelations on the Life and Works of Fitz Henry Lane” at the West End Theater, 2 Main Street, Gloucester at 7 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

The presentation, illustrated with digital slides, will focus on Lane’s Gloucester works and the vital role Gloucester played in shaping not only his career as an artist, but through him, the American art scene as a whole. Mr. Craig’s talk with include a review of Lane’s personal history including newly discovered personal testimonies concerning Lane and his everyday habits, the work and identities of previously unknown students and his Transcendentalist connections. A Question and Answer period will follow the lecture.

Formerly with the Cape Ann Historical Museum, Mr. Craig is now the resident overseer for the historic Beauport Sleeper McCann House,and regularly lectures on Fitz Henry Lane as he actively pursues a writing career.
