‘GODFATHER’ DIRECTOR FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA TO SPEAK
AT CAPE ANN COMMUNITY CINEMA THIS WEEKEND…SORT OF
[Gloucester, MA – November 30, 2009] – Francis Ford Coppola, the Oscar-winning director of the ‘Godfather’ saga, will be on-hand to answer questions from fans at The Cape Ann Community Cinema at 21 Main Street in Gloucester on Saturday, December 5th at 4:15pm… in a manner of speaking. The 30-minute Q&A, which takes place immediately following the 2:00pm screening of the writer-director’s latest film, “Tetro,” an inventive drama about an Italian family living in Argentina, will take place via the Internet.
“A digital pow-wow is a fitting kind of get-together,” said CACC managing director Robert Newton, “considering we are a digital cinema. And the cost of bringing someone like Mr. Coppola to our audience would require us filling the room a half dozen times to cover the expense, so this is a nice alternative.”
“Tetro” will screen on Friday the 4th at 7:30pm, Saturday the 5th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm, Sunday the 6th at 7:30pm, Tuesday the 8th through Thursday the 10th at 5:00pm and Sunday the 13th at 5:00pm. Additionally, Coppola’s masterful 1974 thriller “The Conversation” starring Gene Hackman will screen on Friday the 4th through Sunday the 6th at 5:00pm. Any patron who purchases a ticket to either of these Coppola films for any time during their respective runs can attend the Q&A.
Continuing with the Italian theme, the Cinema will present its first live HD opera simulcast on Monday, December 7th at 12 noon with Bizet’s “Carmen,” live as-it-happens from Milan. There will be an 8:00pm rebroadcast. All tickets for “Carmen” are $24.00, and available online at www.CapeAnnCinema.com or at the box office.
Other programming for the week includes the hilarious documentary “What Would Jesus Buy?” on Sunday the 6th at 2:00pm, an encore of the B’la Fleck banjo docu “Throw Down Your Heart” on Tuesday the 8th at 7:30pm, the docu about the real-life ‘Mad Men’ entitled “Art & Copy” on Wednesday the 9th at 7:30pm and the Temple Ahavat Achim benefit screening of the acclaimed drama “For My Father” on Thursday the 10th at 7:30pm.
A full December schedule is available at the Cinema’s website at www.CapeAnnCinema.com.
