Rockport Chamber Auction 2007

MOMENTUM BUILDING FOR SEPTEMBER 14 ROCKPORT AUCTION

Auction 2007, the annual goods and services auction sponsored by the Rockport Chamber of Commerce, is now just six weeks away. This year’s auction will be held at the Rockport Art Association on Friday, September 14, with an auction preview and silent auction from 5:30 pm to 7: 00 pm, followed by the regular auction at 7:15 pm.

A 12-member committee, chaired by Amanda Armstrong and Terri Krause, has been working diligently since mid-June to plan and prepare for Auction 2007. Committee members are hard at work obtaining attractive and valuable auction items including vacation packages at resort destinations. John Morrison will once again serve as Auctioneer for this year’s event. The evening will include catered hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

New auction items are now arriving daily, donated by area shops, inns, artists, entrepreneurs and individuals at a pace expected to top last year’s total of over 280 items valued at nearly $60,000. Early items include: original paintings and prints by Rockport artists, whale watching excursions and river cruises, ten boiled lobsters courtesy of Roy Moore Lobster Company, dining certificates at the Fish Shack and the Rudder Restaurants, a personally guided tour of Dogtown for eight, admission for four to New Year’s Rockport Eve 2007, and gift certificates from several Rockport retailers and tradespersons. A regularly updated list of auction items will soon be available on-line at www.rockportusa.com/auction.

Additional donations to the Rockport Chamber of Commerce auction are always welcome and encouraged. Anyone wishing to reserve a table, donate a good or service, or make a financial contribution in support of Auction 2007 is invited to contact Peter Webber or Susan Lucas at the Rockport Chamber office (978-546-6575).
