Cape Ann Museum Library Presents Pharmacy Exhibit
Currently on view in the library at the Cape Ann Museum is a small exhibit entitled The Apothecary Shop. The exhibit was organized by retired pharmacists, Salvatore Ciolino of Gloucester, and Victor Andreotti of Norwood, and includes pharmacist’s tools and ephemera from their own personal collections. Mortars and pestles, graduated glass jars, inhalers, canisters of anaesthetic ether, balances and weights to measure dosages, and bottles of assorted ingredients are featured among other pharmacist’s tools of the trade from the mid-twentieth century.
Hours for the Library are Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Apothecary Shop remains on exhibit through June 28.
The Cape Ann Museum is located at 27 Pleasant Street in Gloucester. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed on Mondays, and on major holidays. Admission is $8.00 adults, $6.00 Cape Ann residents, students and seniors. Children under 12 and Museum members are free. The Museum is wheelchair accessible.
