THE MAGIC CHRISTMAS TREE

The Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshops proudly presents Holiday Delights at Gloucester Stage from December 20 through December 23. Holiday Delights features a cast of 29 young people ranging in age from 6 to 15, all students from Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshops 2007 Summer and Fall Sessions. This holiday event is a showcase of student talent and marks the first time in Gloucester Stage history that a production has featured an entire cast of student actors. Conceived and directed by Heidi Dallin with music direction by Beth Goldberg and choreography by Windhover’s Carol Burnham, this festive evening of stories, songs and dance features the world premiere stage adaptation of acclaimed Gloucester author Lee Kingman’s charming story, The Magic Christmas Tree.

Holiday Delights tells the story of a young girl’s journey to discover what is really important during the holidays. During her journey she learns about the special traditions of other families and comes to realize the importance of her own family traditions. On Christmas Eve Mrs. Claus takes the young girl to visit the Cratchit Family from Israel Horovitz’s Scrooge and Marley, the March Sisters from Louisa Mae Alcott’s Little Women, a contemporary family celebrating Hannkuah and Julie and Joanna, the 10 year old heroines of The Magic Christmas Tree and their families.

Performances are December 20 through December 23 at Gloucester Stage, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Performance times are 7 pm on December 20, December 21 and December 22 and 3 pm on December 22 and December 23. Ticket prices are $12 for Adults; $10 for Senior Citizens, $6 for Students and $4 for Children under 12. For tickets and further information, call 978-281-4433 or visit www.gloucesterstage.org
