The North Shore Jazz Project Presents: The Three Cohens at Shalin Liu

The North Shore Jazz Project Presents: The Three Cohens at Shalin Liu

Friday, November 11, 8 pm at the Shalin Liu Performance Center at 37 Main Street in Rockport, ‘one of the country’s most beautiful halls’ (Boston Phoenix).

11.11.11 is being touted as a World Day for interconnectedness with global celebrations to mark the occasion. Make your plans now to celebrate with style. Enjoy world leading jazz and world music artists in an intimate setting.

Celebrated clarinetist, Anat Cohen, just won her fourth consecutive ‘Clarinetist of the Year’ award from the Jazz Journalists Association. and top Clarinetist in the 59th ANNUAL (2011) DOWNBEAT CRITICS POLL WINNERS. When Cohen and her brothers were growing up in Tel Aviv, Israel, jazz was not plentiful. She learned clarinet, and she played in a Dixieland group and big band at the Jaffa Conservatory as a teen. Her brothers, Yuval on saxophone and Avishai on trumpet have followed a similar musical path. The family bond the siblings share obviously contributes to their unique telepathy and symbiosis on the bandstand and in the studio, but the level of interplay and musical cooperation that exists between the Cohens can only be described as astounding.
Anat’s charm and talent make her a standout crowd pleaser. Get your tickets early as she was featured in a sold-out concert at the Shalin Liu with George Wein’s ensemble just last July. If you have not experienced the Shalin Liu, 11.11.11 is the perfect date to discover this spectacular oceanfront venue.

This concert is to benefit the North Shore Jazz Project. The proceeds from this event provide ongoing support for music education programs throughout the North Shore. Special VIP seating available at $75 per person available through www.northshorejazzproject.org
